Energy Club Seminar Kickoff

Energy Club Kickoff

Getting prepared for the Energy Club Kickoff event, our goal was to showcase diverse student
research in the energy field at UCSD. We had three great speakers present their research.

  • Juliane Sempionatto from NanoEngineering showed us how energy could be harvested from
the human body and be used to power sensors.
  • Niu Du from Marine Biology descriped how we could learn from plants utilization of photosynthesis.
  • Alma Zhanaidarova from Chemistry revealed how CO2 reduction can be used to fuel our missions to Mars.

We had a great turnout of over 50 graduate students who learned, snacked, and mingled. It
was inspiring to see so many graduate students passionate about the field of energy! We cannot wait
to see what the future holds for the Energy Club!
