Hayley is pursuing a PhD in NanoEngineering as part of the Laboratory for Energy Storage and Conversion under Prof. Shirley Meng. Her research focuses on exploring cathode materials for sodium ion batteries. Hayley enjoys watching trees transform light into chemical energy.

Albert is pursuing a PhD in Materials Science under Prof. Qiao.  His work is focused on developing a low carbon emitting concrete.  Albert enjoys saving energy with an afternoon nap.

Jonathan Scharf

Director of Industry Relations

Jonathan is pursing a PhD in NanoEngineering under Professor Fenning in the Solar Energy Innovation Laboratory. Jonathan’s research focuses on studying the effects of ion-migration in solid-state materials to reduce Potential-Induced-Degradation (PID) in solar modules. Jonathan enjoys watching light scatter during a beach sunset.

Dylan is pursuing a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering Program as part of the Laboratory for Energy Storage and Conversion under Prof. Shirley Meng. His research currently focuses on all-solid-state thin-film lithium ion batteries. Dylan likes to spend his energy by playing basketball and singing.

Victoria Petrova

Victoria is currently pursuing a PhD in materials science and engineering and is focused on nanoporous cathode materials for lithium metal batteries as part of the Electrochemistry Material Science Lab under Prof. Liu. Her favorite form of energy is sunshine and caffeine.

Øystein Fjeldberg

Jacobs Graduate Student Council (JGSC) Representative

Øystein is pursuing a M.S. by thesis in NanoEngineering as part of the Laboratory for Energy Storage and Conversion under Prof. Shirley Meng. His research focuses on the material design of the hole-transporting material in perovskite solar cells. Øystein likes to spend his energy contemplating the Universe while floating on a board within the ocean waves.
